NOTES:

George Sluizer's The Vanishing from 1988 depicts one of the most calculating and pedestrian killers I've seen on screen. Though its pacing more closely follows the structure of a psychological mystery, its conclusion left me with a resounding disquiet more grave than most horror films manage.
